On 27 October 2025, the Supreme Constitutional Court in Cyprus has overturned the decision of the Administrative Court to approve KISA’s deregistration from the Register of Associations carried out by the Ministry of Interior back in 2020. The deregistration is ruled as unlawful and we expect the administration/Ministry of Interior to comply with the ruling and re-register KISA immediately.
The SCC’s decision is focused on the basic principles of the protection of human rights and in particular, the right of association and assembly and therefore freedom of expression as fundamental rights, the respect of which is essential in a democratic society, as per KISA’s positions in its appeal against the decision of the Administrative Court of First Instance.
