European civil society stands in solidarity with the people of Serbia

Over 130 NGOs have signed a letter in solidarity with the Serbian people, criticising the EU’s response to the repression of the anti-corruption movement. We’re calling on the Serbian authorities to stop the escalating restrictions and attacks on civil society.

The Serbian people’s fight for democracy, transparency, and human rights is also a fight for the fundamental values the EU claims to be built upon. But the EU’s failure to act decisively has contributed to the deepening distrust among Serbian citizens towards the European path, weakening the enlargement process as a whole, and discrediting the EU’s external policy.
