Joint civil society letter calls for boycott of NGO scrutiny working group

EU civil society organisations have signed a letter urging MEPs to boycott the controversial NGO scrutiny working group.

The new body was created as part of a campaign of unfounded attacks on NGOs led by the European People’s Party and far-right groups in the European Parliament.

The attacks have created an atmosphere of suspicion towards civil society, despite a complete lack of evidence of any wrongdoing.

In fact, both the Parliament’s Budgetary Control Committee and the European Court of Auditors have looked extensively into this issue and found no wrongdoing, financial irregularities, or misuse of EU funds by NGOs.
