In an open letter published by the biggest trade unions and employers’ organisations on 28 March 2020, the signatories are denouncing the Act enabling the Polish Prime Minister to dismiss a member of the Social Dialogue Council during the epidemic threat.
Although the country is facing the pandemic as other countries in the region, the government refused so far to introduce a State of Emergency. Nevertheless, it has implemented several restrictive measures, among those the Act on special solutions related to the prevention, counteracting and combating of COVID-19, other infectious diseases and crisis situations caused by them, and some other acts.
It is one of the regulations introduced by this Act that has been attacked by both employers’ organisations and trade unions. The social partners strongly protest against interference in the independence of this most important social dialogue institution in Poland.
