EU: European Parliament passes resolution on “Islamist entryism” targeting anti-discrimination CSOs

On 8 October 2026, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for an EU strategy to counter Islamist entryism and the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood network. Led by an alliance of MEPs from the far-right, the European People’s Party and Renew, the resolution outlines plans which could discredit, defund, and censor civil society.

Several anti-discrimination organisations, including the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Students Organisations (FEMYSO), the European Network Against Racism (ENAR) and Collective Against Islamophobia Europe (CCIE) are named in the resolution and accused of having links with the Muslim Brotherhood network — accusations the organisations have strongly refuted.

The resolution claims that some Muslim and anti-racism organisations “operate under the guise” of combating Islamophobia but are instead being used to infiltrate democratic institutions and promote political Islamism. In addition to calling for an EU strategy, it also urges the removal of ENAR from the EU Transparency Register due to its public support for the Collective Against Islamophobia in France, an organisation which was a member of ENAR and was subsequently dissolved by the French government. Moreover, it calls for stronger checks on EU funding, partnerships and beneficiaries that may benefit from “political Islam”.
